Frequently Asked Questions

  • What ages/grades does Oak Ridge serve?

Oak Ridge Academy is a learning community that serves ages 5-18. We do not have grade levels, as our learners work in mixed-age learning groups, and move at the pace that works best for them, individually. However, we serve learners and their families throughout the equivalent years of the compulsory k-12 schools. Each student will graduate as a critical-thinking adult, ready to make an impact on the world.

  • What are school hours?

Oak Ridge Academy is a focused learning space between 9am-4pm, Monday - Friday, September-July. We hold open yard time for any family members to come enjoy the garden, the goats, and community space on Monday - Friday during our Clubs hour of 3pm-4pm. All students are available for pick up at 4pm

  • Is there a part-time option?

At this time, we are not enrolling learners for part-time attendance, but Oak Ridge Academy does not have an attendance policy that specifies a required number of days that your child must be in school. It is the school’s philosophy that traveling with family and engaging in experiences with family is fruitful and educational. At the same time, consistent attendance, in general, will help your child feel connected to the group and engaged in projects.

  • What is the tuition investment?

Tuition payments can be paid in-full, bi-annually, or via a monthly payment plan. Because Oak Ridge understands that having multiple children enrolled in private education is a significant financial investment, we offer a 10% discount to sibling learners.

Monthly tuition per child - $1,350

Once per year enrollment and supply fee of $500.

  • Is tuition assistance available?

At this time, tuition assistance is very limited. Please discuss with the Head of School to see how we can help you.

  • How much screen-time/technology will my child have?

Oak Ridge Academy acknowledges that technology and many digital devices can be used as learning tools. We encourage our learners to bring these tools to school with them, but also work together to focus on learning. By doing so screen-time is limited. During dedicated learning hours, learners must use technology and digital devices for learning purposes only, and will be monitored closely.
